Fast and Female Summit 2019

By age 14, girls drop out of sport at twice the rate of boys the same age

                                          – Women’s Sport Foundation.

This is where Fast and Female comes in. Fast and Female is a nonprofit created by Canmore Olympian Chandra Crawford. She wanted to change the culture around girls in sport by inspiring kids with real-life sports heroes. Fast and Female makes it possible not just for girls to meet Olympians, but to workout with them!

Highlights of the Fast and Female Summit at Winsport’s Markin McPhail Centre in Calgary, Alberta on October 21, 2018.

Why is this important? There are many benefits to being active, aside from the obvious health benefits, sports can help develop leadership skills, confidence and team-building skills.

Did you know that 41% of girls age 3 to 16 don’t participate in any sport?

We’ve written about Fast and Female before because we think it’s such a fantastic opportunity for girls to meet a different kind of hero and an opportunity to be inspired.
On November 3rd, Fast and Female is having their biggest event of the year in Calgary; the 6th annual Fast and Female summit. This year’s theme is  BE. YOU. BE REAL. This will be an opportunity for the girls  to not only meet Canadian Olympians and train with them but to participate in activities for the “mind, body and heart.”
